US Women Advance to Semis

24 September, 2007; 11:33 Leave a comment Go to comments

The American women beat England on Saturday to advance to the semifinals. Could have been a touch match, but shortly after the half, USA made three goals within 10 minutes, easily beating the Brits.

Next is a much tougher challenge on Thursday: Brazil, who beat Australia to move on. Meanwhile, Germany and Norway won their quarterfinal matches and will play each other on Wednesday; host China and scrappy North Korea are out of the competition.

I’m starting to wonder why I’m writing about this? I got started because US and Sweden were playing in the same group, but I didn’t mean for this to become a sports blog. Well, since not much else is going on, why not? And once I get started on the US team, it seems like I can’t just leave you, the audience, hanging even after Sweden’s exit. If you don’t follow sports, or are uninspired by women’s soccer, then don’t worry…it’ll all be over on Sunday.
